Seung Gi: (In Japanese)  Hello everyone, I’m Lee Seung Gi.

(In Korean): This coming April, The Gu Family Book DVD will be released. I hope that many people will watch it and am looking forward to you falling for the charming character, Choi Kang Chi, who exhibits the qualities of a masculine man. Also, on February 8th and 9th, for 2 days, I will be holding a live Valentine’s concert in Tokyo.  Since I’m planning a special Valentine’s season filled to the brim with love, I hope many people will attend and feel the warmth together.  At the concert, I hope that you will come see Lee Seung Gi. While watching the Gu Family Book, I hope that you will see Choi Kang Chi.

[English] Seung Gi Cooks Traditional Korean Rice Cake Soup with Kids for Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year falls on Janauary 31st this year and is considered one of the 2 biggest holidays in Korea besides Chuseok, which is Korean Thanksgiving, and equivalent to the mid autumn harvest festival in Chinese culture..  The first meal that a  Korean eats on New Years day is Rice Cake Soup.  It is believed to ward off evil spirits for the rest of the year. Here is Seung Gi assisting children in making their own rice cake soup.

English translation:

Chef: At home you use white moon (shaped) rice cake?

Kids: Yes

Chef: Since I heard you were coming, I had some prepared.  Now what could this be?

Kids: Danmooji (pickled yellow radish)

Chef: Danmooji? Does it look like a danmooji? We’ll taste it later to see if it’s danmooji.  This is made from the “cheesa” fruit. It gives off a natural yellow food coloring. 

Chef: Wow, we finished at the same time.

Lady: Remember we had our friend, Juwon.

Lee Seung Gi: Ah! You mean slicing?

Lady: Yes

Lee Seung Gi: I don’t usually watch carefully (his heodangness coming out here). Make sure not to hurt your hands Jiwon.  If you try to slice too fast, you can cut your hand.

Lee Seung Gi with little girl: If you do that, you’ll get hurt. Like this. (he shows her how to hold the knife at an angle).

Official Recruitment Notice for Airen 6 is Finally Out!

Finally! I’ve been checking the official website since mid January everyday for news and the recruitment period  and cost has been announced.The cost for fans in Korea is 35,000 Won and 60,000 Won for overseas fans, the same as last year.

The most important thing is to keep in mind the recruitment period: Monday, February 3, 2014 from 10 AM to 6 PM KST to Thursday February 13th, 2014.  Once you miss this deadline, your application will be rejected.  Once your application is processed,  your membership period will last from 17th February 2014 (Monday) ~ 31st January 2015 (Saturday).

If you haven’t signed up for the official website yet, please get that done first. You will need to submit a copy of your passport as part of the registration process. This is for identification purposes and is explained under their FAQ section at leeseunggi.com.
