After a 20 minute ride on the subway, I followed the directions to the new Marley Coffee very carefully since Gangnam subway station is really huge and has 12 exits. It in itself is an underground shopping mall and a mini civilization. I managed to find exit 12 and walked for about 5-10 minutes before I saw the familiar yellow building and white neon sign that I had seen in Itaewon earlier. This time, it was about twice as big and bustling with many people. Yellow balloons with the Marley Coffee logo decorated the entrance all the way up to the staircase. At the end of the white curling ribbon was a card redeemable for 3 offers: 1+1 Americano, get a free Marley Coffee mug with the purchase of at least 20,000 Won (approx $20 US), and an offer for a rechargeable wine card. You receive 20% of the amount you charge back in points if you charge the card with at least 10,000 Won ($10 US). The prices are in the upper range of your regular cafe and the one difference I noticed was that the Itaewon branch offered more lunch and dinner items while the Gangnam branch offered simple soups, salads, and sandwiches. The Gangnam branch was offering a special price on their Americano for their grand opening at 5,200 Won a cup (approx $5 US)
The other side of the sign that greeted me as I went into the cafe. Bye Marley Coffee Gangnam! I had a great time and will treasure the mug I received with my order. The affogato and strawberry tart were really good. I would recommend this place for a light snack and desserts. If you’re hungry, the Itaewon branch is the place to go. Congratulations on your grand opening Marley Coffee! Their official facebook page states that 3 more branches will be open in February.
