[English] BTS Filming of Marley Coffee Video

Credit: Hosuk Lee

Seung Gi: Coffee is an item that I really, really wanted to shoot a CF for since my debut days.  Marley Coffee offered me an opportunity and that’s how we ended up in a partnership. As I started drinking Marley Coffee, I think I realized what coffee is supposed to taste like for the first time. This is why people drink coffee, because of this flavor and taste.

Haha: Premium coffee beans aren’t all the same. It has to be at least Jamaica Blue Mountain…

At 1:01 Haha speaks: Instead of a city-like feel, Marley Coffee gives off a slightly nature-like and classic feel. It means that it has that much depth. If you want to feel a different kind of depth, encountering Marley Coffee would be better. (than other coffees)

Haha practices his lines “Exactly where is a coffee that can fill my soul?”

Haha: As you know, Blue Mountain is very famous. I don’t think it would be a bad idea if everyone fell in deep for that coffee taste at least once.

Seung Gi: Please give Marley Coffee lots of love and affection in the future. I also, as a model, will diligently try hard. So, let’s all get drenched in Marley’s world.

Haha: If you want to experience a coffee with soul and a live spirit, Marley Coffee. With one cup, be moved and try falling into those waves. Marley Coffee. Ya,mon~!!!

CF starts at 2:30~~~

Haha: Oh, coffee! For coffee, the coffee beans are the most important. Not all coffee beans are the same! It has to be at least Jamaica Blue Mountain…

Seung Gi: Like this? Meet the real Jamaica Blue Mountain. Everyday life becomes premium. Stir it up, Marley Coffee.

Plans For Fourth Marley Coffee Branch in Daegu to Open June 12th

Previously, Hosuk Lee, CEO of Marley Coffee Korea, posted on one of his SNS accounts that the 4th Marley Coffee Branch in Daegu, Suseong Pond, would open June 11th. It seems that it was a typo since another SNS account of his says that “things are going according to plan” and it will be opening on Friday, June 12th.

My Visit to Itaewon~ Marley Coffee & Love Forecast Filming Location, My Thai China

This past Friday, I had a conference in Seoul so I had some time to stop by Itaewon for a cup of Marley Coffee and to see the restaurant, My Thai China, where Love Forecast was filmed. For those who have already watched the movie and seen the the previews, it’s the scene where Jun Soo plays rock, paper, scissors with Andrew to see who pays the dinner bill. Jun Soo loses and while he’s paying the bill, Andrew and Hyun Woo drive off without him, leaving him running down the staircase after them.  The mural on the wall by the staircase is unique and I made sure to take a decent photo of it to share with you. ^^

m1 m2 m3 m4 m5As you can see, the menu is very diverse and the place was bustling with people on Friday night.

Here is the famous mural on the restaurant’s wall that appears in Love Forecast:

That’s the end of my visit to My Thai China. After crossing an alleyway, across the street was Itaewon’s Marley Coffee. I stopped by to purchase their Limited Edition Americano and Summer Edition Stainless Steel Tumbler.

m16The Single Origin Americano was really deep tasting without any sugar, exactly the way I like my Americano. It wasn’t like the other slightly sweet RTD Americano version sold in CU stores for 2,000 Won less. It was worth the 4,700 Won which in US Dollars is about $3.50 a bottle. The stainless steel tumbler was 16,000 Won which is approx $14 US dollars.

m14 m15At the second floor with affogato, my favorite item from their dessert menu. I inserted the straw upside down, but no matter. You get the idea. 😉

Marley Coffee RTD Line of Premium Blending Americano and Latte ~ A Review

Last night, I was so excited to see Marley Coffee at my local CU convenience store on my way home from work. It is the biggest chain in my neighborhood and I don’t know why I passed it by on April 2nd. After inquiring at the previous CU’s on my walk home, I walked into this CU without any expectations. When I saw them in stock, my jaw practically dropped open and all the fatigue from that day just melted away.  The sale is buy 2 bottles, get 1 free for 5,400 Won (~$5 US) and it’s mix and match till the end of this month. I bought a total of 6 bottles and was grinning from ear to ear as I went to the cash register.

The manager said it had come in on April 2nd and when I had gotten there, at almost 1am KST, there were exactly 4 bottles of latte and 6 bottles of americano left. I’m personally a latte fan so I bought all 4 bottles while trying out 2 bottles of americano. I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep drinking coffee so late at night, especially with me having to go to work early this morning. Curiosity got the better of me and I reached for the latte.   I was really surprised by the high quality of the taste. Seriously, for 1,800 Won (~ $1.50), it tasted like a freshly made latte I purchased at one of the Marley Coffee cafes in Gangnam or Itaewon. It had a strong, deep note while maintaining a creamy taste with just the right amount of sweetness to satisfy even the fussiest coffee drinkers. Koreans tend to like sweet coffee, so I was a bit hesitant but really pleased to find this wasn’t the case with Marley’s Latte. This morning, I tried the Americano and must admit it is darker and stronger than other store prepackaged coffees, but still a bit too sweet for my taste.  This was just the regular Americano, not the sweet version that was advertised before by the president of Marley Coffee Korea, Hosuk Lee. I think I’ll stick to Marley’s latte for now. The packaging is nice and the empty glass bottle is too pretty to recycle.  Here are the photos I uploaded on twitter late last night and this afternoon:

I highly recommend Marley Coffee’s RTD line out of all the brands I’ve tried in Korea. Theirs is definitely the best I’ve tasted and it isn’t because I’m an Airen. I need my daily morning caffeine fix to function properly and this is going to be a product I will be purchasing frequently in the future.  The added bonus is that Seung Gi is their model.
