Marley Coffee RTD Line of Premium Blending Americano and Latte ~ A Review

Last night, I was so excited to see Marley Coffee at my local CU convenience store on my way home from work. It is the biggest chain in my neighborhood and I don’t know why I passed it by on April 2nd. After inquiring at the previous CU’s on my walk home, I walked into this CU without any expectations. When I saw them in stock, my jaw practically dropped open and all the fatigue from that day just melted away.  The sale is buy 2 bottles, get 1 free for 5,400 Won (~$5 US) and it’s mix and match till the end of this month. I bought a total of 6 bottles and was grinning from ear to ear as I went to the cash register.

The manager said it had come in on April 2nd and when I had gotten there, at almost 1am KST, there were exactly 4 bottles of latte and 6 bottles of americano left. I’m personally a latte fan so I bought all 4 bottles while trying out 2 bottles of americano. I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep drinking coffee so late at night, especially with me having to go to work early this morning. Curiosity got the better of me and I reached for the latte.   I was really surprised by the high quality of the taste. Seriously, for 1,800 Won (~ $1.50), it tasted like a freshly made latte I purchased at one of the Marley Coffee cafes in Gangnam or Itaewon. It had a strong, deep note while maintaining a creamy taste with just the right amount of sweetness to satisfy even the fussiest coffee drinkers. Koreans tend to like sweet coffee, so I was a bit hesitant but really pleased to find this wasn’t the case with Marley’s Latte. This morning, I tried the Americano and must admit it is darker and stronger than other store prepackaged coffees, but still a bit too sweet for my taste.  This was just the regular Americano, not the sweet version that was advertised before by the president of Marley Coffee Korea, Hosuk Lee. I think I’ll stick to Marley’s latte for now. The packaging is nice and the empty glass bottle is too pretty to recycle.  Here are the photos I uploaded on twitter late last night and this afternoon:

I highly recommend Marley Coffee’s RTD line out of all the brands I’ve tried in Korea. Theirs is definitely the best I’ve tasted and it isn’t because I’m an Airen. I need my daily morning caffeine fix to function properly and this is going to be a product I will be purchasing frequently in the future.  The added bonus is that Seung Gi is their model.

Marley Coffee Hits CU Convenience Stores Today

Marley Coffee’s RTD (Ready to Drink) line of bottled Americano and Latte hit CU convenience stores today. Depending on the region, it was available this afternoon whereas for others like me, it wasn’t available yet. I went to three different CU stores today and all of them said they didn’t have it. One clerk said she would ask her manager to order it. Another said she never heard of it while the clerk at the last place I went to said that a man had just come by to ask about it. Many Korean Airens pre-ordered it and some lucky Airens got to drink it. The reviews were good. I hope my neighborhood CU will be able to get it in ASAP.
