wemapCredit: WeMAP

Social commerce WeMAP is holding a ‘Culture Day’ on the coming 24th and 25th of this month at the COEX movie theater in Gangnam. The purpose of this event is to encourage the employees working in the customer satisfaction department.  Lee Seung Gi and Lee Seo Jin will be invited for this event.

This past January, WeMAP announced that 2014 would be the start of a new management run by consumers. To realize this goal, approximately 1000 customer satisfaction centers were made available in order to provide the best service to customers. This upcoming ‘Culture Day’ was planned to show appreciation for their service.

WeMAP will rent out the entire Megabox movie theater which contains approximately 500 seats for the 2 day event. On the 24th, Lee Seung Gi will make his appearance while Lee Seo Jin  will appear on the 25th.  Starting from 7pm, the customer satisfaction employees will meet with them for 30 minutes and they will also watch a period action film titled ‘Kundo: Age of the Rampant’.

During this event, Lee Seung Gi and Lee Seo Jin will call out seat numbers and present customer satisfaction employees with gifts.  In addition, there will be a surprise event in which they will call employees’ cell phones through a random drawing.  The winners will be able to take photos with Lee Seung Gi or Lee Seo Jin.

WeMAP’s head official of customer service centers, Kim Han Bit, said, “The customer satisfaction employees are doing their best at the point of contact with customers. They are making consumer oriented management a reality. By directly meeting the representative models of WeMAP,  their loyalty to the company can be heightened. In addition, I hope it will be a great way to relieve stress that has built up until this point.”

[English] DCLSG Comic Strip~ Seung Gi’s Day

I ran across this comic strip early this morning and thought “What a shame I can’t share it with International Airens.” Blogging English translations after the comic strip is a bit cumbersome to read since I don’t have the software to white out the Korean and insert English. Many wonderful Airens volunteered to help out, so for now, I will blog a “rough draft” of translations so that English translations can be inserted instead of Korean. Thanks for your understanding! Meanwhile, see how many of his CF products you can count. There were so many comments on dclsg about  Chambbong’s ingenuity of incorporating so many of them into a single comic strip 🙂  She made this in commemoration of Seung Gi’s 10th Debut Anniversary. See how many CF products you can find that he endorsed in the past 10 years! ^^day1

Spend White Day with Seung Gi! ~Talk Concert sponsored by WeMAP

In Korea, there are two separate romantic holidays unlike the USA. First, there’s Valentine’s Day on February 14th. On this day, it is Korean custom for women to present men with chocolates.  The favorite standby is Ferrero Rocher. Since I grew up in the USA, I can’t understand this, even though I am Korean-American. A month later, on March 14, it’s the mens’ turn to present women with candy and flowers. Koreans believe this holiday was split in two for marketing purposes. As a female, I prefer chocolates over cheap candy hands down.

WeMAP offered 100 lucky females a Valentine’s date with Lee Seojin, now it’s Lee Seung Gi’s turn on White Day. You need to go to the WeMAP facebook page and press the like button as it needs to reach 400,000 before this event can happen.

[English] Win a date with Lee Seo Jin & The Dimple Brothers wish you a Happy Lunar New Year ~ WeMAP

Credit: WeMakePrice

English translation:

Hello, I’m WeMAP model Lee Seojin. I’m WeMAP Lee Seung Gi. 2014 has arrived.

Lee Seo Jin: I hope that everyone will have a year filled with only happy events.

Lee Seung Gi: I wish for everyone to be healthy and to have a year filled with love.

Lee Seo Jin: Everyone, Happy New Year.

Lee Seung Gi: Everyone, Happy New Year.

There’s an event that WeMAP is having in celebration of reaching 300,000 fans. It appears to be a date on Valentine’s Day with Lee Seo Jin!  You have to go to the WeMAP official homepage on Facebook and press the “Like” button.  Then you will receive a coupon that you can download. You must have an official WeMAP account online first. Participate in a drawing for a date with Lee Seo Jin! Final caption says “2/14, you are the leading lady”.  The event will be held from 1/23, 10am KST to 2/6 10am KST.  100 WeMAP customers will be drawn at random and contacted individually on 2/7 for a date with Lee Seo Jin! Sigh…don’t get your hopes up for an individual date! LOL.

Here’s the link to the WeMAP FB page: WeMAP

p.s. If WeMAP is able to reach 500,000 fans on Facebook, there will be a White Day date event with Lee Seung Gi on March 14! In Korea, Valentine’s Day is for females to give males chocolates. The next month, on March 14, it is called White Day and this is the day males give candy or chocolates to females.  I come from the USA so this doesn’t really make sense to me.  Many netizens say this is a marketing ploy to increase the sales of chocolate in February and candy in March.  >< WHAT!!???  I’ve been living in Korea for several years and still shake my head at this custom.  The American culture in me just won’t accept it.  What ever happened to the saying “Ladies first?”

Happy New Year! Seung Gi in Hanbok for Cuckoo and WeMAP CF

Happy New Year! In Korean tradition, New Year’s Day is celebrated by eating a bowl of rice cake soup.  Many times, it also contains meat and or vegetable dumplings as well.  It’s Korean superstition that eating a bowl of it will ward off evil spirits.  It is called “Dduk Guk” or “떡국” in Hangul.  Another tradition is for younger people to formally bow to elders such as children to parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and receive money in return called “saebae don”. “Saebae” or “세배”  in Hangul, ” 歲拜” in Chinese characters means “New Year’s bow”.  Not only do children bow, but adults also do it to their elders such as their parents, in laws, and elders such as grandparents. They do not receive money when they bow.  Everyone who pays their New Year’s respects to their elders then sit and get advice or well wishes for the coming year.  For children, it is a day to look forward to.

Family gatherings are festive with the traditional game of “Yutnori”, where wooden sticks are thrown and the pattern in which they fall on top of each other determines how many spaces a team can move on a board.  The object is to reach all four bases first while capturing as many chips of the opposing teams.  Another tradition that many households observe is the wearing of the Korean traditional costume called Hanbok.  This word literally means “Korean clothing”.  Here’s a photo of Seung Gi dressed for New Year’s Day in a Cuckoo CF. Here, he is posed getting ready to bow.

This is a CF ad for WeMAP, the social commerce group, with Seung Gi wearing a different style Hanbok. The CF is for a gift that comes when a customer reserves a gift.  It is Korean custom to bring gifts such as apples, Asian pears, and various gift sets when visiting someone’s home.
